Meet Freddie, the Katie & Kimble Blog's Little Talking Host! This
is Freddie! She's the talking host of the Katie & Kimble Blog.
If you turn on your speakers and click on her picture over on the left
sidebar, you can hear her recite the Kimble, Kimble Chant. (You can
find the words to the Kimble, Kimble Chant on the right sidebar of the
blog.)
If you place your cursor over Freddie's picture in the left sidebar,
she will follow it with her eyes. Also, you can click on her one time

than twice, you can close your browser for a little bit and come back
to it later. She will then speak again!
I named our new host Freddie
because there are two fictional characters I like who are named Freddy.
I am a big fan of the late author Georgette Heyer, and she wrote both Cotillion and Frederica, my two favorites, and both books have a very likable character named Freddy!

Katie & Kimble Blog: A Visit from a Baseball Player! Have
you read the story about the baseball player I knew when I was a kid?
It's over on the right sidebar of the Katie & Kimble Blog. It's
called "When I was 9: The Baseball Player," and it's a true story.
When
we lived in Minnesota, Rich Rollins was the third baseman for the
Minnesota Twins. He was also our neighbor. When I created the Katie
& Kimble blog, I wrote a a true story about Rich and posted it on
the blog.
Well, one day, Rich's son, Jim Rollins, was googling his dad's name and
he came across my story on this blog. Then, when he went over to visit
his parents, he showed them the story. Here is what Jim had to say: "I showed [my dad] the story and he really enjoyed the memory." It was a lot of fun for my family to hear from Rich, his wife Lynn, and their son, Jim, too! Thanks, Jimmy!

Hear Songs from the Katie & Kimble Books! Did you know that here on the Katie & Kimble blog, you can hear lots of songs from the Katie & Kimble chapter books?
Let me tell you about some of them.
1) Katie's Song If you've read Katie & Kimble: A Ghost Story,
you know that Katie gets in trouble on a bridge. This reminded me of
an old song called "Down by the Old Mill Stream." This song was popular
when Kimble was a child. And it's sort of an inside joke, too. Can
you guess why? Listen here.
2) Kimble's Song
Before Katie met Kimble, Kimble was all alone in that big, old house for many years. At times, she was lonely and sad.
There is a song that reminds me of Kimble. I think of it as Kimble's song. It's called "Graceful Ghost Rag." Listen here.
3) The Dreidel Songs In Katie & Kimble: A Ghost Story,
Kimble teaches Katie (and you!) how to play dreidel. Dreidel is a game
that Jewish children play during Hanukah. They use a spinning top,
called a dreidel. Listen to the dreidel songs here. You can learn how to say the different letters on the sides of the dreidel.
