Katie & Kimble Go Green!

You might not notice how “green” the Katie & Kimble: A Ghost Story chapter book series is until you get to the second book, Katie & Kimble: The Magic Wish.

In the second Katie & Kimble book, we discover that the Russell family is trying to eat healthier foods.  Can you think of an example?  That’s right—they only have pizza on special occasions and they don’t eat much red meat anymore.

Katie’s family also cares about the earth and about all living things, like trees.  For example, when Katie’s dad does the grocery shopping, he takes cloth bags with him.  No paper or plastic for him!  And when he puts up a swing on the old oak tree in the backyard, he’s very careful not to harm the tree and he doesn’t use any nails at all.

Mr. Russell also shows how much he cares about the earth when he sings one of his favorite songs in Katie & Kimble: The Magic Wish.  It’s called “For the Beauty of the Earth.”  It’s a beautiful old hymn.  You can listen to free samples of the song here.
